Peter Keys, whose real name is Peter Pisarczyk, is an American keyboardist. His collaborations with George Clinton in different P-Funk lineups and his membership with Lynyrd Skynyrd since 2009 are what make him most well-known.

His parents played their 1923 Steinway piano to put him to sleep when he was a little child. Which sparked his passion in music. He was classically trained and started playing the piano at the age of four. At the Neighborhood School of Music in New Haven, Connecticut. He gave his debut performance when he was five years old. Keys went to northern California in 1976 as he was determined to make a life as a musician and joined his first band, Smeagol. He formed a cover band called Sound Advice when Smeagol split up. He attended the Boston, Massachusetts-based Berklee College of Music where he studied music through 1985 before quitting to pursue his career as a performer.

Peter took Bernie Worrell’s position in the original P-Funk lineup in 1996. He performed onstage at this period alongside a wide range of artists, including Bootsy Collins, Snoop Dogg, and Isaac Hayes. He relocated to Detroit, Michigan, in 2000, when he founded Shock Logic Productions. In 2002, he became a part of the 420 Funk Mob, a group that also includes George Clinton and other ex-P-Funk musicians. Peter was a member of the indie rock band SeepeopleS from 2004 until 2009 and appeared on three of their albums (Corn Syrup Conspiracy, Apocalypse Cow Volumes 1 & 2). He relocated to Nashville in 2009 and was chosen to take Billy Powell’s spot in Lynyrd Skynyrd. Keys performs with several different bands, including The Smoky White Devils, while Lynyrd Skynyrd is not on tour.
