He began covering Denver traffic for radio and television after graduating in 1996. Later, in May 2006, he started working for Denver7 as an afternoon helicopter reporter and photographer and a morning traffic anchor. Jayson worked as the helicopter news/traffic reporter for KOA Radio before joining Denver7. While there, he assisted in the establishment of AirWatch Traffic, which offered traffic updates to various radio stations in Denver.
