Canary Mugume, (born on January 7, 1995 (age 28 as of 2023), in Mbarara, Uganda) is an investigative journalist from Uganda. He works with NBS Television and is a fellow in the Léo Africa Young Emerging Leaders Program. His investigative reporting focuses on current events, economic problems, and social issues.
Biography
Mugume worked as a journalist at Radio West in Mbarara, where he read the news geared toward youngsters between the ages of six and thirteen. While he was a student at Mbarara High School, he started the school newspaper. Additionally, he has worked in Uganda at Urban TV and Channel 44 as a trainee. Currently, he serves as NBS Television’s principal COVID-19 correspondent. In 2019, he served as the host of the evening extended program on the coronavirus that airs daily, in addition to anchoring the daily bulletin.

He also serves as the host of Nxt Radio’s “The Big Talk,” a weekly political talk show. Additionally, he contributes a column titled “My Parting Shot” to the Nile Post news portal once a week.
Canary Mugume Wife
Mugume is married to Fiona Nagirinya, also known as Sasha Ferguson. Their wedding took place on September 18, 2021, at the Miracle Center in Uganda.
Canary Mugume Education
Mugume earned an information technology and computer engineering degree from the International University of East Africa. Additionally, he holds certificates from the U.S. Agency for Global Media in TV Production and Training, the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism in New Trends in Journalism, and the U.S. Agency for Global Media in Digital Media Training.
He received modeling training from Kat Modeling Firm, a modeling agency with a base in Kenya.
NBS Television Canary Mugume
Canary has worked for NBS Television since 2016, as a senior news anchor and investigative reporter, together with Isabela Tugume. They host the prime-time news program #NBSLiveAt9 on NBS Television.
He is a well-known Ugandan investigative journalist who works for Next Media Services and NBS TV Uganda in Kampala, Uganda.
He is Uganda’s most popular young current affairs journalist.
